CEE Kick-off: Together ready for IDD
Generali CEE launched the CEE IDD project to meet the challenges of the new European “Insurance Distribution Directive” to be implemented in early 2018.
Bratislava, 14 September 2017 - CEE country coordinators and the core team of Generali CEE Holding met in the capital of Slovakia to start the CEE IDD project. The “Insurance Distribution Directive” is a new European legal framework which will apply from 23 February 2018. Until this date, IDD has to be implemented in national legislation in all EU member countries.
The IDD regulation is one of the biggest challenges for the entire European insurance industry in 2018. Because of its utmost importance the project is steered directly by the entire Executive Committee of Generali CEE Holding. The sponsors are Chief Insurance Officer Mark Dassui responsible for Insurance and Distribution as well as Chief Operations Officer Harald Steirer responsible for Operations and IT.
The main objectives of the project lead by Marek Baloun, Distribution Stream Leader for CEE, are:
- Ensuring the compliance with the upcoming legislation throughout the CEE region.
- Getting a deep understanding of the impact on our local business.
- Fostering the cross-border knowledge exchange and exploiting of synergies.
Goals of the kick off workshop were to introduce the project structure, to review the IDD implementation status per country and to agree on concrete next steps.
The local coordinators hold key roles in the project as they are in charge of the local implementation projects. The status of the implementation in CEE will be regularly discussed in the Executive Committee.
As stated by Mark Dassui, „We are proud to have such strong local teams which are second to none. I was impressed of the positive attitude and the ambition of the team not only to ensure the compliance but to use the IDD for exploring new business opportunities and to distinguish Generali from the competitors. Examples mentioned during the kick off meeting were the consultative sales approach and value based remuneration. Both were agreed by participants as common areas for knowledge sharing and the close collaboration within the CEE region.”
